Back in 2011 and 2012, negotiations with the County were not going well, but everything worked out almost instantly the moment Altadena Heritage, a registered non-profit organization, stepped up to sponsor Joseph Shuldiner as manager and allow the Market to come to Loma Alta Park in West Altadena. Hats off to Joseph Shuldiner for his hard work making this new Altadena Institution a success! The Market opened on May 30, 2012, and has been open every Wednesday since then

The market takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday, rain or shine. Loma Alta Park is located on W. Loma Alta Drive near Lincoln. It is a beautiful location and a bountiful market, set among acres of sloping lawn and shady sycamore trees — an ideal place for picnics – and fortuitously the Market offers a variety of prepared food vendors to choose from.

Once the Market was up and running, our sister Altadena non-profit corporation – the Altadena Community Garden — took over sponsorship. It seemed like a good fit, the Community Garden is right next to the Market, and they both deal in food, and Altadena Heritage is moving forward, always looking to support another bright idea to make our town better.

Altadena Heritage is proud to have played a crucial part in the efforts to make the Altadena Farmers Market a reality.
